Payroll Tax Refunds – Are You Eligible ?

Businesses across Australia – and indeed the world – are doing it tough at the moment.  So a Payroll Tax Refund could be very welcome indeed.

COVID-19, self imposed isolation and Government imposed lock downs are making things difficult for businesses big and small….not to mention for consumers as well.

The Victorian State Government and the Australian Federal Government are offering all sorts of concessions, stimulus’s, refunds and incentives to businesses (and individuals) across the country.

The Victorian Government has announced a range of tax relief measures as part of its economic survival package in response to COVID-19.

These measures are designed to help businesses and workers get through the current period of uncertainty.

 

One of these initiatives that has been recently announced is a Payroll Tax Refund.

 

This may or may not apply to your company, but if you do pay Payroll Tax, you should apply for a refund for the 2019-2020 tax year.

To obtain the refund you need to know how much your company has paid to the State Revenue Office.

You can find this information when you login to the SRO portal.

 

How To Get Your Payroll Tax Refund:

1. Login to the PTExpress portal .

https://www.sro.vic.gov.au/ptxexpress

2. Review ‘Return History Summary’ – this will give you the value of the refund, and the dates concerned.

3. ‘Apply for Refund’.

 

Smaller businesses that don’t pay payroll tax can apply for the Business Support Fund :

The Victorian State Revenue Office has set up a specific corona virus page that details measures being provided to businesses.
